Bevy of Cases Surface For iPod

Since its announcement one of the major (and only) criticisms of the iPod is its lack of a belt clip or case. Well it looks like third party manufacturers are coming to the rescue with a number of solutions:

  • Waterfield Design is now offering two iPod carrying cases: the iPod SleeveCase [US$20] and the Super Dooper iPod Case [US$40] which features a flip-top design, small earphone storage pocket and removable belt clip. The Super Dooper case will be available in the first week of January in red, white or blue, the iPod SleeveCase will ship in the second week of January.
  • JR Hill & Co. has released two leather sleeves for the iPod: the iPod Sleeve (CA10) [US$30] functions as a simple carrying case with belt clip and a small opening on the top for access to the headphone jack. The iPod Sleeve Deluxe (CA11) [US$40] functions much the same way cell phone cases do. It has a clear plastic area for the display and a round, open area beneath to access the special jog dial to control the iPod. It will also feature a hole on the top to access the headphone jack and a belt clip.
  • Other World Computing/Mac Sales has announced The Pod Protector [US$29.95], a protective full-grain, glove soft leather case that features a vinyl window to protect the iPod screen and clear vinyl protection for the buttons. The Pod Protector is available now for US$29.95 with the belt clip and US$27.95 without.
  • Marware is planning to offer two neoprene case for the iPod, a note of the company’s iPod product page says only “COMING SOON – NEOPRENE CASES FOR iPOD. Please check back on December 11th.”
