BookEndz and 23" Cinema Display Issues

23-inch Apple Cinema DisplayI have a 2-year old PowerBook G4/800MHz and a BookEndz docking station. I’ve been very happy with this set up (after learning that the connctions must be made very tight). I just bought a 23″ Cinema Display and it is gorgeous when connected directly to the PowerBook.
When the display is connected through the dock, it appears that there’s a problem with the signal (e.g., noise or strength) and I have many pixels that are “bad,” e.g., streaks of scintillating red. I called BookEndz and they are aware of the problem but they “can’t do anything about it.” It appears that the same problem occurs when a DVI extension cable is used. That is, inserting any intermediate connection causes problems.
Is there a solution other than tolerance of the bad pixels?
Could using it this way damage anything?
