Lots of people have been asking me “what’s cool at Demo?” while I walk around the hallways here. I find that question tough to answer.
I guess it’s that “cool” has different meanings:
1) That it’ll change how you work. Zoho’s Notebook wins here. It’s like an online OneNote and I can see using that to collaborate on work projects.

Just a quick reminder that Apple is planning a press event today in advance of tomorrow’s opening of Photokina in Cologne, Germany. The smart money is on an update to Aperture but there’s an outisde chance that we could see Core 2 Duo upgrades for the MacBook Pro and possibly MacBook. Stay tuned.
Apple will host a special event this month in Cologne, Germany, one day before the start of the Photokina tradeshow. Apple’s invitation to the September 25 event is typically nondescript, but it does give a hint as to what the company will talk about.
“Start photokina a little early this year” is the message on the invitation. Below that text is the front of a camera lens — and what appears to be a closeup of the same image used on the front of the box for Aperture…

The following article is from one of the conference sessions at Winter Music Conference (WMC) last week in Miami where the PowerPage was covering the mobile music scene, digital DJing and the pervasiveness of PowerBooks in the Electronic music community.
Miami — Another fantastic conference session at WMC here was given by Greg Chin (a.k.a. DJ Stryke). In it he exposed us to the wonders of Stanton’s FinalScratch 2, a combination hardware and software product that allows DJs to import all their vinyl into a laptop and play all of their records via two “control records” on traditional turntables. The process saves hauling crates of heavy vinyl from gig to gig and gives DJ’s access to features not possible with traditional vinyl.
FinalScratch 2 lets you play digital music files from any analog turntable or CD player with the natural, tactile feel and response of spinning vinyl. FS2 makes cueing, mixing and scratching feel as natural as spinning all your old school wax – without having to change records.

Apple has posted information about the 2005 WorldWide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco:
With its unique integration of breakthrough technologies, open standards, and robust development tools, Mac OS X Tiger is the platform for unparalleled developer innovation. At the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2005, June 6-10 in San Francisco, you’ll get the in-depth knowledge, hands-on instruction and one-on-one support you need to deliver products and solutions that transform the way your users work, play, search, and share on a Mac.
Although Apple has stated that “no hardware announcements are made at WWDC,” they broke that rule in 2004 by announcing the 30-inch Cinema Display, in 2003 Apple announced the PowerMac G5 and the iSight camera at WWDC. In 2002 Steve-O announced that OS 9 was dead while displaying a graphic of a cool headstone (picture courtesy of MacDevCenter).
