If you were worried as to how to activate Siri on a next-gen iPhone, which may or may not feature a physical Home button, you might just be about to hold down the sleep/wake button to trigger the virtual assistant.

The option was allegedly uncovered in source code by Brazilian iOS developer Guilherme Rambo. He didn’t say immediately identify which code, but Rambo was previously responsible for uncovering secrets from leaked Apple HomePod firmware, including the “iPhone 8’s” apparent “SmartCam” feature as well as leaking pictures of the Steve Jobs Theater as it enters its end stages of construction.

This could lead to something pretty neat.

Brazilian web site iHelp Br has located dozens of new workout icons within a developer beta. The icons include badminton, Aussie rules football, American football, baseball, skiing, surfing, sidewalk surfing (a.k.a. skateboarding), “snow sports,” paddle sports (of the water variety), pilates, bowling, and several others.

The icons have yet to show up on existing betas of watchOS 4 and it’s been speculated that they’s exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 3, which Apple is expected to announce in September.

It’s the leaked firmware that keeps on giving.

In a recent discovery, developer Steve Troughton-Smith found code strings within the HomePod firmware that indicated a virtual Home button for the iPhone 8. The Home button can apparently be hidden and resized as needed.

There apparently isn’t a way to change the Home button’s color, and tab bars that display at the bottom of apps will appear below the button.

As it’s being studied, the leaked HomePod firmware continues to be a treasure trove of upcoming Apple features for the upcoming iPhone.

In addition to recent findings, iOS developer Guilherme Rambo has uncovered even more strings hidden inside of Apple’s HomePod firmware, which could possibly point to new features in upcoming iPhone hardware.

The strings highlight the presence of a camera capable of supporting 240 frames per second video capture at a 1080p resolution. The current iPhone 7 is also able to capture video at 240 fps, but it’s limited to just 720p resolution. 240 fps video capture results in smoother slow motion video, and having that video at full HD resolution would make for a significant increase in quality.

The leaked HomePod firmware might have given away yet another feature for Apple’s upcoming next-gen iPhone.

iHelp has noted a line that references support for facial recognition even when the device is laying flat on its back. The term “Pearl” is believed to be Apple’s name for Face ID:

The leaked HomePod firmware continues to hint at possible forthcoming Apple features down the pipe.

A set of code discovered in the firmware suggests Apple’s “iPhone 8” will integrate facial recognition into the Apple Pay process, though it appears the technology will not completely replace physical Touch ID.

Developer Daniel Niyazov tweeted out a note on Wednesday in which he noted references to “pearl,” which is thought to be Apple’s codename for “iPhone 8’s” facial recognition feature. The reference also showed up in leaked code associated with Apple Pay.
