Algoriddim's djay Pro for iPad - Jason O'Grady

The art of DJing has advanced to the point where it’s now possible to do things on your Mac, iPad, iPhone (and yes, even your Apple Watch) that previously required thousands of dollars in turntables, mixers and speakers. After playing with djay Pro for iPad for a couple of days even my MacBook is starting to feel heavy.

Algoriddim’s djay pioneered (pun intended) the art of mixing and beat matching tracks on the Mac in 2006 and on iOS in 2010. djay is an amazing family of apps that allows you to spin music like a pro and has earned the title of world’s best selling DJ app with over 20 million downloads and an Apple Design Award to its credit.

djay dropped a major update to its disruptive iPad app today, loaded with pro-level audio and video features.

A few of my favorite things: Waterfield and Peralta bags for the iPad Pro

Waterfield's Field Muzetto bag

Having a good bag is almost as important as having good equipment in the first place. If you spent good money on an iPad or MacBook it makes no sense to have your sweet hardware bouncing around in a poorly-constructed vessel that costs less than your Uber fare. It’s also a shame to tuck your beautiful Apple hardware into an unsightly “computer bag” which is why I love Waterfield bags.

I’ve been recommending Waterfield’s stitched-in-San Francisco products since 1999. If you’ve recently acquired a new iPad Pro, or your old bag needs to be updated, Waterfield’s got two great new products that I can’t recommend highly enough: the Field Muzetto and the Peralta Scarlett iPad Pro Sleeve.

It never hurts to get a nifty discount.

That and it’s nice to build a nice cache of iTunes gift cards to use all year round, especially if they’re available at a discount. Discounted iTunes gift cards are one of the only ways to save on apps, music, movies and even your Apple Music subscription.

A couple vendors are selling discounted iTunes gift cards this holiday season. Currently, the best deal of the bunch is a $100 iTunes gift card for $80 via PayPal Digital Gifts on eBay. The gift cards arrive via email within a few hours of purchase, but the limited time offer is only available in the United States.

GIFT GUIDE 2014 - The TrackR bravo - Jason O'Grady

Have you ever said “I wish there was a way to call my keys.” I used to say it all the time while scrambling through my couch cushions looking for my car keys (usually making me late to get somewhere.)

Enter the Bluetooth tracking tag. Introduced in 2009, these small Bluetooth ‘fobs’ can be attached to anything from keyrings, to bags, to kids. Once paired with your smartphone you can find them using the Bluetooth feature on your smartphone via an app. They’re undeniably handy.

My favorite tag – in an overcrowded market – is The TrackR bravo ($29, pre-order).

[I’ve been testing a pre-production of The TrackR Bravo design and it has the potential to be the best Bluetooth tracker on the market. If you can’t wait until Bravo ships in January, keep on reading to find out about TrackR’s other tags which are available now.]

TrackR started as Phone Halo in 2009 and introduced its Bluetooth tracker at the Demo conference in spring 2010. The company offers three models, the Sticker and Wallet are shipping now and the super-small Bravo (which raised $1.2M on Indiegogo) and will begin shipping in January 2015.
