If you’re hankering for a new iPad Pro, the new one was just announced today.

Apple announced an updated version of its 10.5-inch iPad Pro. The new unit still weighs one pound but includes thinner bezels as well as a new screen equipped with ProMotion technology, which allows for faster refresh rates with smoother scrolling, and more responsiveness with Apple Pencil and touch input with just 20ms latency.

The refresh rate will dynamically adjust for both quality and power savings. Fast moving content updates quickly, but slower refresh rates (such as when viewing still images) can save battery life.

When Apple’s inventory runs low, a new model tends to be around the corner.

This seems to be the case with the iPad Air 2, wherein inventory levels have dropped as a trio of new models are rumored to soon launch, potentially suggesting the popular iPad Air 2 will be axed for a new model with faster processor.

Certain models of the table are not available from a number of authorized Apple resellers. At MacMall, neither the space gray nor silver variants of the 32-gigabyte Wi-Fi-only iPad Air 2 are in stock. And on the high end, B&H lists all LTE-equipped 128-gigabyte models as “no longer available,” suggesting inventory will not be replenished.

It looks like there’s a good chance Apple will be adding to its iPad Pro offerings.

Per KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is expected to develop a 10.5-inch iPad Pro next year. In addition, Apple is rumored to launch a second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro in 2017, as well as a “low cost” 9.7-inch iPad model. The iPad Pros are expected to include an A10X processor, while the more-affordable 9.7-inch iPad will have the A9X chip.

Furthermore, KGI’s research predicts that Apple will release a new “revolutionary” iPad model, but we won’t see it until 2018 at the earliest. This next-gen iPad will sport a flexible AMOLED screen and “radical” changes to the form factor and the user experience. According to KGI, the AMOLED iPad will “follow the footsteps of the iPhone,” suggesting that an upcoming iPhone will be first to feature an AMOLED screen.

You know, in most businesses, a quarterly profit of $7.8 billion would be considered a good thing.

In Apple’s frame of mind, this isn’t that stellar.

In today’s Q3 2016 conference call, representatives from Apple cited revenues of $42.4 billion, a profit of $7.8 billion with a margin of 38 percent.

Apple CEO Tim Cook cited the successful launch of the iPhone SE, wherein demand outstripped capacity at first. Additional capacity was brought online to handle this.

Cook cited an 8 percent decline in iPhone sales from Q3 2015.
