Cdiclerico has posted a gallery of images of his iPod video unboxing:

My 60GB iPod (video) arrived this morning. I am probably one of the first people to get it since they shipped yesterday. The packaging is disappointing, but the iPod is incredible.

In addition to unbundling the FireWire cable, dock and power adapter, the new iPod packaging is getting some criticism too. If that wasn’t bad enough, the included case is a joke. From a caption:

The included “case” is the shitty white sleeve on the upper-right. All other accessories are in a shitty envelope. iPod, of course, is beautiful.

Sony PSP and Apple iPod Video Compared

First, let me explain how I use my PSP. I don’t play games on my PSP or any of my gadgets for that matter. (No offense to the gamers out there.) When I commute, I listen to music. When I travel, I watch movies. And when I hang out in a coffee shop I surf the web (when I don’t feel like busting out my PowerBook). Having the ability to show images is fun, too, but I typically just use the picture functionality to view maps or show off some of my photography.
To summarize my user habits, I use my portable device to listen, watch and surf. The new iPod falls short in one category and unfortunately, it’s a big one for me; surfing the web. Maybe this isn’t a big deal for others, but I’m trying to cover all aspects of these two devices.

FireWire Steved From New iPod

apple_firewire_logo.gifI am simply shocked and amazed that Apple has abandoned FireWire on the just-announced fifth generation iPods with video. I understand why there’s no FireWire on the iPod shuffle (no port) and even why it’s off the nano (tiny form-factor, lower cost) but why in blazes did Apple leave FireWire off the new video iPod?
