New rumors on 65″ OLED panels being made for Apple

Those Apple television rumors just won’t quit will they? According to Cult of Mac, a new rumor/report from the South Korea-based Korea Herald, an “unnamed” South Korean display manufacture is currently making 65-inch organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel samples for Apple’s proposed “iTV”.

The Apple Core: I want my iTiVo

ipod_tivo.jpgMy article yesterday talked about the potential for an Apple partnership with Netflix on their upcoming iTV device. Apple’s mysterious iTV would be the delivery vehicle for the upcoming Netflix digital download service, or so the theory goes. The other potential Apple partner is TiVo.

I’ve been thinking about iTV a lot lately and something occurred to while watching 60 Minutes on Sunday. Apple could use Macworld Expo to announce a partnership with Netflix on the iTV.

Apple iTV Touted on 60 Minutes Segment

60 Minutes on CBS featured a segment on NetFlix and discusses DVD popularity and potential competition from online movie distribution. In the segment Apple ITV “Apple plans to boost its new downloading business by introducing iTV within six months. It’s a box that will connect the Internet and TV. Reed Hastings told 60 Minutes he’ll unveil plans for his own download service in January. And Netflix has posted a customer service number on its Web site.” See the segment here.
