There may be some changes to this year’s iPad Air.

Per AppleInsider and French web site Nowhereelse.fr, pictures of a nonfunctioning dummy model iPad Air shows an indented space for two elongated volume buttons, representing a change from the current iPad Air where the buttons protrude. The mockup was first spotlighted on Tuesday by Nowhereelse.fr.

Strangely, the dummy device also lacks a mute/orientation lock switch above the volume buttons, and instead has just a small circular hole. To date, all iPad models have featured a toggle switch above the volume controls, just like every iPhone.

The iPhone 6 leaks and early images continue…

Over on the Weibo photo sharing service, a user with the handle “dreamerJimmy” has posted additional shots of the supposed iPhone 6 design, including a comparison shot of the upcoming handset against the iPhone 5s. Apparently, dreamerJimmy was able to get early shots of the iPhone 5 and 5c handsets before their release, so the source seems reliable.

Per 9to5Mac and French web site Nowhereelse.fr, in the first image, the much thinner bezels of the supposed new device can be clearly seen, to maximise the screen space on the front side. The distance between the Home Button and the display has also been shortened.

It’s the leaked icons that suggest that something interesting is on the way.

Per MacNN, a series of icons that seem to be downloaded from Apple servers whenever someone enters the Storage Management panel, suggesting that Apple is laying the groundwork for the updated software. Visually the icons have been changed to adopt the flat, colorful design of iOS 7.

Apple has yet to issue iOS 7 overhauls for a number of first-party apps, including not just iPhoto and GarageBand, but other important titles like the iWork suite. The company has been racing to fix problems in iOS and update its entire ecosystem, however, and may be putting apps on the backburner. One possibility is that redesigned apps will make their debut at the October 22nd iPad event.

This “space gray” color’s hip with Apple and the kids today…

Per AppleInsider and French web blog NowhereElse.fr, a series of newly-leaked images shows an available “space gray” color for Apple’s upcoming second-generation iPad mini tablet.

Apple’s upcoming refresh of the best-selling iPad mini will see the device’s slate coloring dropped in favor of the company’s new gray, according to newly-leaked photos purported to show the device’s rear shell. The images, which also depict slight structural updates match up to another recent leak of purported iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 sim trays.

“Space gray,” introduced with the new flagship iPhone 5s, succeeds “black and slate” as the darkest color on offer from Cupertino. Following the phone’s introduction, the company’s iPod lineup was also updated to introduce the new shade.

The second-generation iPad mini is expected to be announced by Apple at an event in October, alongside a new fifth-generation iPad. It’s expected that Apple’s next 7.9-inch tablet will feature a high-resolution Retina display, while the new full-size iPad will sport a redesigned chassis similar to the iPad mini.

Both devices have been outed in numerous part leaks that have arrived throughout 2013. But Wednesday’s latest leak is the first indication that the anodized aluminum back may adopt Apple’s new “space gray” coloring.

Leaked images appear of “gold” iPhone 5S next to current iPhone 5 model

This is what the next-gen iPhone may or may look like compared to the current iPhone 5.

Maybe.

Per French web site Nowhereelse.fr and Japanese publication ASCII Plus, a set of photographs surfaced on Thursday, supposedly showing a widely rumored gold colored “iPhone 5S” shell in various comparison shots with two current generation iPhone 5 handsets.

The images come from cellular phone parts dealer Moumantai and were published to the blog of weekly Japanese tech magazine ASCII Plus (via Nowhereelse.fr).

From the photos, it appears that the supposed “champagne” iPhone 5S casing has no significant design variations compared to the iPhone 5, including button layout, speaker holes and SIM card slot position. Everything from the rear antenna windows to the highly polished chamfered edges are identical.

Rumors are heating up with an expected launch date close at hand. The latest hot topic is a new gold color option for the next generation iPhone, which some sources have described as a more elegant “champagne” hue, not a gaudy “ingot.” Parts hinting at the new color choice have been circulating for some time, but not much attention was paid until a supposed shell appeared last week.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, who has a reliable track record in predicting Apple product announcements, said last week that the gold case color will be offered alongside the traditional black and silver options currently seen with the iPhone 5. He also sees Apple introducing a new 128GB storage option for the 5S, which is expected to feature revamped internals and a fingerprint sensor.

It is speculated that if Apple is indeed planning to introduce a gold version of the iPhone 5S, the move may be a play at the booming Chinese handset market. Recent research has shown that color preference is trending toward gold and orange in the Asia-Pacific region.

Apple is rumored to announce its next iPhone model at a special event on Sept. 10, with a rollout to follow shortly thereafter.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.

The iPhone 5C pictures have leaked.

This time by the dozen.

Per Boy Genius Report and Mac|Life, BGR snagged some “allegedly legitimate” high quality pictures of Apple’s upcoming “budget/plastic” iPhone handset. The full gallery is available here

In such high resolution, it looks better than what’s been seen in previous photos–particularly in its white shell that oozes “Apple” much more accurately than the colored concept images that have popped up before.

Interestingly enough, though, the device in the photo simply says “iPhone,” which could mean that this is either an earlier prototype or that Apple’s considering changing the name before release. While the iPhone 5C apparently doesn’t bring any new features over existing iPhones, it’s been heralded as a way for Apple to gain a foothold overseas, where less expensive Android phones reign supreme. The long-expected device is expected to launch later this year.

Leaked image shows longer ribbon cable, adjusted components for next-gen iPhone

The upcoming iPhone will feature a longer ribbon cable for its internal components.

Or at least that’s what a leaked photo is indicating.

Per Letem Svetem Applem, a new side-by-side comparison of iPhone 5 parts with components allegedly built for Apple’s next-generation “iPhone 5S” show minor internal changes, the most significant of which is a longer ribbon cable attached to the front display.

iphone5s-130806-1

The direct comparison of front panels once again suggested that Apple’s unannounced next-generation iPhone will sport largely the same look as the iPhone 5. That’s why the rumored device has been dubbed an “iPhone 5S” by media and fans, who expect the handset will sport an essentially identical design to Apple’s current flagship smartphone.

Aside from a longer and redesigned ribbon cable on the front panel, the rest of the part looks mostly the same, with a few internal changes in the form of moved screws and other minor tweaks. But on the outside, the part looks identical to the iPhone 5, with the FaceTime camera remaining directly above the handset’s earpiece.

Screw placement around the “iPhone 5S” home button is also essentially unchanged. Rumors have repeatedly suggested that Apple plans to embed a fingerprint scanner inside the home button of its next iPhone, but so far none of the leaked parts have offered any evidence of significant hardware changes.

Apple is expected to hold an event at some point in September to unveil its new iPhone lineup for the fall of 2013 and beyond. In addition to a next-generation flagship “iPhone 5S,” Apple is also expected to introduce a new low-cost iPhone with a plastic back and the same 4-inch display as the iPhone 5.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.

Possible low-cost iPhone mock ups surface, add to speculation

The rumor of a low-cost iPhone lives.

And occasional photos of mock ups tend to keep it alive.

Per 9to5Mac and Gizmodo, a series of mock ups of the new iPhone from Martin Hajek have surfaced. The design doesn’t stray too far from what’s been seen and heard in the past, but the color choices seem to be influenced by Apple’s recently announced iOS 7 update.

In addition to these new concept photos, some new high-resolution photos of the back shells for the purported cheaper iPhone have leaked. While these images can’t presently be verified, they represent the thought as to what a low-cost iPhone would look like.
