Apple tends to release things when it feels they’re complete and the current rumor has the next-gen MacBook Pro slated for October.

The new 15-inch MacBook Pro will reportedly switch to “Polaris” graphics chips from AMD, which claims Apple could have new units ready to ship sometime in the second half of October.

As mentioned before, the updated notebook is rumored to feature a Touch ID bar along the top of the keyboard. This will act as an OLED touch bar that will adapt as needed and replace the function keys.

Machine learning is the hip new thing and Apple wants to be as large a part of it as humanly possible.

Adding to its collection of machine learning acquisitions, following a buyout of Perceptio at the end of 2015 and Turi just a few months ago, Apple has now acquired an India/US-based machine learning team, Tuplejump.

While Apple has yet to confirm the purchase and offered the standard line about occasionally buying other outfits without discussing its purposes or plans, the company offered the previous description of itself on its web site a while back:

Moving beyond the McLaren rumor, Apple is also said to be talking to Lit Motors, a small company that participated in the Startup Battlefield at TechCrunch Disrupt SF back in 2012, a contest they finished second in.

The San Francisco-based startup is developing a new kind of electric vehicle vehicle that seems something like a two-wheeled motorcycle that can’t tip over thanks to built-in stabilization technologies.

Lit is said to have only raised $2.2 million in total in venture capital and it’s unclear if the company still has money today to survive as an independent entity or if it has been looking for an acquirer.

If you’ve ever drooled a bit over a parked McLaren on the street, then you’ve got something in common with Apple.

The current rumor has it that Apple has approached British supercar-maker McLaren to discuss an acquisition or a strategic investment in the firm. The talks are said to have been in progress for several months.

McLaren is best known for its Formula One racing team and also has a fast-growing road cars division that started up less than a year ago. The company has also received accolades for its million-dollar P1 hybrid hypercar and its line of supercars. McLaren also has a large consulting division and a technologies group that acts as a parts supplier to other carmakers and race teams.

Well, this is sort of a mess.

Apple is presently working on a fix for an issue that can cause the new Lightning EarPods designed for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to stop working properly, the company said in a statement issued on Monday

When using the EarPods, there’s an occasional bug that can cause the remote portion of the accessory to become unresponsive. While audio will continue to play, the remote does not work, so there’s no way to control the volume, access Siri, or answer a phone call.

As of now, the glitch seems to be intermittent and random and it’s been reported that unplugging the Earpods and plugging them back in seems to temporarily resolve the issue.

Apple plans to issue a fix in an upcoming software update, albeit there’s no word on when it might be released. It’s not known if third-party Lightning-based headphones are affected, but there have been reports of similar bugs with the Lightning adapter. Some headphones, such as Beats headphones with a 3.5mm connector, appear to have a non-functional remote when plugged into an iPhone with the Lightning adapter.

The 2013 Mac Pro may be the final version of this model with no successor in the works.

As of September 13th, 1,000 days have passed since Apple released the first version of the redesigned Mac Pro computer.

The current Mac Pro came out on December 19th 2013, meaning that programmers and video professionals who need a high-performing Mac and buy one today will only have a couple years’ use before it becomes what Apple SVP Phil Schiller describes as a “really sad” five-year-old PC.

The current rumor has it that Apple has partnered with Sony to bring its Apple Pay service to Japan. As has been previously rumored, Apple will make future versions of the iPhone compatible with Sony’s FeliCa technology to allow Japanese citizens to use Apple Pay for contactless payments at FeliCa-compatible terminals.

FeliCa is Sony’s tap-to-pay format, which has been widely adopted in Japan. It’s used to access the country’s railway and bus system, and it’s able to store e-money that can be used at vending machines, cafes, and other locations equipped with FeliCa systems. FeliCa is able to process transactions in a fraction of a second, making it suitable for use in a fast-paced transit environment.

The Lightning port replacement for the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack rumor might have just been corroborated along with the “iPhone 7” and “iPhone 7 Plus” name.

A leaked image of a purported packaging insert for Apple’s upcoming new phone. If the photo is to be believed, Apple will indeed be calling its larger new phone the ‘iPhone 7 Plus’, with the ‘iPhone 7’ name being taken by the 4.7 inch sibling.

The photo also indicates that Apple will be bundling Lightning EarPods in the box with every iPhone 7, as a consequence of the missing 3.5mm headphone jack. The leak suggests Apple will also be including a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack adaptor as a bundled accessory.
