The Philadelphia PowerBook Users Group (PPUG) will have our summer 2006 meeting on Saturday, 24 June 2006. The meeting will take place from noon to 3pm at the Manayunk Brewing Company. We usually have lunch (or a brew) while we talk mobile computing. I will be giving a presentation along with Bob Snow and Rob Parker. Topics will include the new MacBooks, Apple Stores, as well as all manner of gadgets and a question-and-answer period. Feel free to bring items to sell or swap as well.
Join us for a great meeting, and it’s free and open to all and your guests.
Be advised that the Manayunk Arts Festival is going on at the same time, so parking and traffic patterns will be affected. Please plan accordingly. The Festival begins at 11am and runs through the early evening. This would be a great day to bring your family into Manayunk and then meet after the meeting.

I had the opportunity to speak at the Main Line Mac Users Group (MLMUG) this Saturday and had a great time. Some of the topics in my presentation included: iPod Accessories iBoom and iDiddy and a discussion about the possibility of PowerBook speed bumps being announced at Apple Expo in Paris next month. The bulk of my presentation was spent on podcasting, podcasting, podcasting.
I have posted a copy of my slide presentation (1.7MB PDF) if you’d like to download a copy. A big thank you to Walt Vennell and the whole MLMUG crew for the hospitality.

The Manayunk Brewery has been the meetingplace for the Philadelphia PowerBook User Group for many years, but this Saturday is their Annual Brew Extravaganza from 12-4pm and this will premempt the scheduled PPUG meeting. If you visit the Brewery on Saturday, you will have a chance to try over 30 different types of microbrews from breweries all over the country. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door – and they will give you a keepsake tasting glass and access to unlimited sampling! We will try to reschedule the PowerBook meeting as soon as we can. Thanks!

Bad news – we got bumped from our normal room and will be meeting out in the “Patio” room. This may end up being a big round table discussion instead of a presentation. O’Grady will be there.
The Philadelphia PowerBook User Group will be meeting at the Manayunk Brewery on Saturday 15 January at noon. With Macworld announcements there should be loads to talk about!

We’ve talked about some of the wear and tear that can occur on the Titanium PowerBook G4 15″ laptops, especially early models. Our friend Troy Kingsbury at Small Dog Electronics has figured out how to repair Titaniums that come unglued, have latch problems, or get scratched so you can finally make your Ti as good as new again. I liked his tips so much I got special permission to reprint it here on the PowerPage.
