The Manayunk Brewery has been the meetingplace for the Philadelphia PowerBook User Group for many years, but this Saturday is their Annual Brew Extravaganza from 12-4pm and this will premempt the scheduled PPUG meeting. If you visit the Brewery on Saturday, you will have a chance to try over 30 different types of microbrews from breweries all over the country. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door – and they will give you a keepsake tasting glass and access to unlimited sampling! We will try to reschedule the PowerBook meeting as soon as we can. Thanks!

Bad news – we got bumped from our normal room and will be meeting out in the “Patio” room. This may end up being a big round table discussion instead of a presentation. O’Grady will be there.
The Philadelphia PowerBook User Group will be meeting at the Manayunk Brewery on Saturday 15 January at noon. With Macworld announcements there should be loads to talk about!

We’ve talked about some of the wear and tear that can occur on the Titanium PowerBook G4 15″ laptops, especially early models. Our friend Troy Kingsbury at Small Dog Electronics has figured out how to repair Titaniums that come unglued, have latch problems, or get scratched so you can finally make your Ti as good as new again. I liked his tips so much I got special permission to reprint it here on the PowerPage.

(Sprint PCS confirmed the handset was going to be made available, and now, according to MobileTracker, it wont be. No source was listed, and I will contact Sprint PCS business services again to see what the status is. SprintPCS has the phone on their website for $229, though some of the information is not correct. You can also watch the hand-wringing in real-time on T608 Users if you are interested. -Emory)
A recent MobileTracker story says that the T608 is not coming (despite a recent rumor here at the PowerPage). Their source is a Reuters story that mentions cost cutting moves.

With increasing fraud on eBay, is it even safe to try to buy PowerBook through them? Is escrow service the way to go? There seem to be some good deals on eBay or other classified services – some frankly seem to good to be true. Any tips on protecting a purchase from the evil doers who are out to rip off Mac fans? I’m considering a transaction with a seller in UK and I’m planning to use uk-escrow.com for escrow proctection. Any advice? Ed: Login to add comments to this story, and tell us what you think. -PK

We can dream, right? Sure, there’s an excellent chance that next week’s Macworld keynote will be nothing other than a rehash of Apple’s blockbuster WWDC announcements. But Apple will have a big crowd assembled at the Javits Center Tuesday morning, so why not make a little big splash? The company has been known to make announcement at shows other than Macworld. Here’s what I’d like to see make the list.
