As listed on 2-POP:

I’d just like to let everyone know that the team around here at dMedia in Tennessee has just completed work on all of the concert visuals for Creed’s new world tour. More to the point of this 2-pop board, and far less patting on back, it was all completed with FCP3 in OSX!

In just over 3 weeks we completed about 1hour and 10 minutes of visuals with many of the composites and ALL of the color correction done in FCP3.

I can’t tell you all how great this program works when put up against the wall. Our final timeline for this project consisted of 13 clips (many over 5 minutes in length and some with about a dozen nested pieces).

Our only quirk was when we started exporting to tape FCP would just up and quit in the Print ot Video mode. So, as a work around we exported directly from the main timeline and didn’t worry about it.

Our system is a g4 DP 500 with 3 internal Maxtor 80GIG hard drives and an external Medea 240GIG scsi raid (using the OSX ready ATTO controller card). Oh, we also have 800MB of Ram.

We shot all the live action stuff with a brand new XL-1s. The cam was great, especially since the new features allowed us to work without a field monitor out in the bright desert.

If you’re interested in reading more about this project, including notes, stills and quicktimes –check out www.musicvideoinsider.com in the coming days.

If you have any questions about our hardware/software configuration or happen to catch the show and want to say a few words (good or bad), please post here.
