DVD playback is now available on all Macs under 10.2 with VLC from Videolan.
VideoLan provideds free software which allows DVD playback and streaming video on OS X, Linux, BeOS, Solaris OE and Win32 systems. I have used this on a G4-upgraded (Sonnet) Wallstreet Powerbook running Mac OS X 10.2.6 with only a few screen delay problems.
Check out the latest Beta version at www.videolan.org. VLC was a runner up for an Apple Design Award 2003.
