[UPDATED] New York, NY — Acting on a hot tip from retail store scoop-site Think Secret, your fearless editor took the Amtrak Northeast Direct from Philadelphia to New York to investigate one of the hottest rumors in Apple’s forthcoming retail strategy.
According to the ‘mill, Apple is planning to set up a retail location in a cool little art community in New York City called SOHO, home of plenty of famous designer clothing stores and a small branch of the famous Guggenheim museum.
By the looks of things the SOHO location has the potential to be the company’s flagship location. The proposed sight is a 10,000 square foot former post office at the corner of Prince and Greene streets that is currently occupied by home furnishing retailer Restoration Hardware. Restoration is closing on Saturday 28 April 2001 and was having a 75 percent-off-everything sale when I was there yesterday.
