Sometimes patience can be a good thing, especially when developers run a sale on apps you’ve had your eye on. There’s quite a few good ones that are on sale or just plain free this week, so get ’em while it lasts.

Apple is running their own promotion on productivity apps for the iPhone and iPad. They’ve gathered up 20 popular apps and slapped discounted prices on them. Some of the hot ticket items are Scanner Pro (use your iDevice’s camera to create PDF documents), Launch Center Pro (handy one-stop launcher for all your apps), Fantastical (calendar app that allows you to add events in plain language), and Boxer (email client with lots of advanced features). Launch Center Pro (separate versions for iPhone and iPad) is normally $4.99, but on sale for $1.99, just to give you an example.

1Password-icon-iOSPopular password management app, 1Password, went on a 50% sale on Thursday, knocking it down to $9.99. This is in response to an article in the New York Times claiming Russian hackers have gotten ahold of millions of users’ credentials. The Verge points out that there may be some holes in that story, but that isn’t stopping 1Password’s makers to put on the sale to encourage users to use better password, because we all know someone whose password is “password”, don’t we? I have 1Password on my Mac AND iOS devices and it truly is invaluable for keeping password info, software serials, bank account info and more, safely organized and securely at my fingertips.

As an aside, if you’d like to know more about 1Password before taking advantage of the sale, and what they haven store for iOS 8, check out Jason O’Grady’s article on the Apple Core.

Finally, Apple has picked Autodesk’s SketchBook Pro  as it’s App of the Week, making both the iPhone and iPad versions available for free! Sketchbook has a pretty impressive array of drawing tools and even if you aren’t much of an artist, it can be fun to play with, and hey, it’s FREE. Don’t wait too long though, the week is almost over.
