First Digital Printing Camera Announced in Japan

According to Francis Boisvert of MacTokyo:

It’s the Fuji Film “Digital In Printer Camera” called the FinePix PR21 Princam. It’ll go on sale November 20th for 99,800 yen.

It’s 2.3 million pixels which allows you to take photos at 1800×1200 pixels in Fine mode as well as 1280×1024 and 640×480 pixels.

The camera size is 113mm (width) x 127mm (height) x 60mm (depth). So it isn’t that small but is the world’s first digital camera with a built-in printer! It weighs 550 grams without the film, battery and SmartMedia and 700 grams with the film, battery and SmartMedia. It uses the SmartMedia disks up to 64Mb.

It uses the Instax Mini film which is currently available for Fuji Film’s popular Checki instant camera the size of a postcard. The Checki is so popular that now, even eight months after it’s introduction, you have to place a reservation in order to buy one! The best feature of this film is that it goes for 700 yen for 10 shots compared to the $2 per shot cost of most larger Polaroid and Fuji instant cameras. The print size is 62mm x 46mm and is 620 x 460 pixels at 254 dpi.

It’s actually the world’s first digital instant photo camera, a digital Polaroid!
