The sharp-eyed folks over at Macenstein.com have pointed out what may be the first third party application designed for Apple’s upcoming iPhone.
The description for Scenario Poker, included in Apple’s Dashboard games section, describes the title as being designed for the iPhone’s screen size and resolution as well as supporting a “tap” interface as well as a mouse-friendly double click interface.
To date, Apple has not specified the exact criteria for third party iPhone applications or what’s involved in the development of any such titles.

This is great news even if it is done without explicit aproval. I agree with Mithras, if enough developers clammor for the opportunity to develop 3rd party apps then Apple will open up. I personally think this is an Apple tactic to do just that. I work for a company that develops a phone recording app for Windows mobile and I’d love to port it to the iPhone.
In reference to the article “iPhone Apps Appear”. Please take a look at the following link/photo. This will be an application to run on the iPhone in summer. It is currently in development. It will not be a Widget.
