Many thanks to the many NoBeige.com readers who informed us that Formac will introduce the iProRAID and iProRAID TV products (names have been changed slightly) for the iMac in the United States. Here’s their description for the iProRAID TV from their web site:

iProRaidTV Tune your iMac into the world of multimedia with the Formac iProRaidTV. The iProRaidTV allows your computer to become a full function TV and VCR in one, allowing you to capture still frames and full motion video on you Mac. Imagine the possibilities of surfing the web and watching TV at the same time. View you favorite programs or record them for future playback. With the ProTV S-video and composite input you can also capture external video from your VCR or Camcorder allowing you to send or edit your personal videos. The Formac Also has a built in SCSI accelerator for high-speed data transfers between your iMac and SCSI peripherals. With a data transfer rate up to 40 Mbytes/sec and connects up to 30 peripherals to your iMac, so your hottest applications never have to wait for data again. As the power of applications, processors, and storage devices increase, high-end computer users demand ways to maximize their system1s performance. The iProRaidTV provides the throughput speed, flexibility, and compatibility required to optimize today’s most power hungry Macintosh systems and Multimedia TV Tuner in one.

Very cool. The iProRAID is essentially the same as the iProRAID TV, but without the multimedia capabilities. Stay tuned as more information is coming later this week.
