Well, MS Vista requires at least 800MHz P4 processor with at least 512MB RAM and at least 15GB hard drive and they call this a "capable" system. I tried to run Vista on my old home system that has 1GHz P3 and 756MB RAM and 40GB HD and Vista was crawling compared to Windows XP that was originally on it. I think Apple is being good with them allowing at least an 887MHz PPC processor for Leopard. I have various systems at my workplace and I have one system with 10.4.10 running on a 1GHz PPC that is pretty fast but I would think about it before I run Leopard on it.

Just saw the 867MHz note on the PowerPage. That limit is getting pretty close to my 1GHz iLamp. I have 10.4.9 running on it right now and don't really notice anything that runs especially slow. There are occasional web pages that are slow to render that I assume are 'net or at least Comcast-related. And larger backups to a LaCie 500GB NAS via Carbon Copy Cloner are slow but I assume that's network and not CPU-constrained.

Speed is relative. I've been thinking about picking up an MBP...I bet the iLamp will look pretty darn slow at that point!

XP, XP Pro is the best option.
Machines of that vintage were never meant to use Vista, as well my PC tower.
My PowerBook 1.6 PPC G4 2GB RAM w/10.4.11, this is also the limit.
