Default iPhone + GPS

I want an iPhone with GPS built in. That will get me down to one device to carry and I'd love to see Apple put their interface know how to this tricky accessory.

Why don't you just stick to designing houses??? J/K I recognized you from the LiveModern forums and I could not resist! Glad to see you, you seem to be going along pretty well with your work!

As far as this board goes, I do agree with you...It would be nice to see either bluetooth compatibility or even support a serial over USB so I could use the Semson cradle I had for my IPAQ. (kind of prefer that option.)
Me being a Polyanna wannabe I got to believe with the overwhelming popularity of GPS that Apple will have this available as an external option via software update soon. They have just released a telnet program so something has to give soon.
again, great to see you around.

I'm assuming you're referring to the new iPhone 3G that is being released tomorrow.

As far as I know, I've not seen anything that indicates the GPS application includes voice commands...and digging through the App Store that just went live this morning doesn't show anything...yet.

The default GPS application _does_; however, give you turn by turn directions (I'm assuming that it will be display only) and gives you a "follow me" display.

Unfortunately, no there isn't any software to allow your iPhone to be used as a GPS. It doesn't have a GPS chip in it. The 3G version coming out tomorrow DOES have a GPS chip, so right out of the box it can do what you want, but that means upgrading. Sorry.
