Going Wireless: Rocky Mountain High? Or Just Ricochet?


For the first time since Metricom’s bankruptcy filing, the Ricochet network is being used for commercial use, says a Cnet story. Not so fast, Denver PowerPage readers — Denver officials are using the high-speed wireless network to help plan for the demolition of Mile High Stadium, so unless you’re a demolition expert, don’t get your hopes up for limitless broadband. Even Denver is using the network only on a trial basis. Aerie Networks says it plans more sales in the 21 cities that had Ricochet networks. Since August, Ricochet’s only brief gasp of life was helping in World Trade Center efforts.
