The band uses two mic inputs, and two monitor inputs into Audiodesk, then matching the wave forms in ProTools to compensate for the “1100 feet per second” difference from the live performance.
Noted is that the CDs are mastered the night of the show and sent for duplication first thing in the morning, and also that “The Dead” make about US$8 per CD set, whereas standard record company contracts net bands about US$1 per CD. “The Dead” have made about $250,000 already from 19 shows, with 10 more shows to go.
