How to Flip the Apple Logo on the iBook Dual USB

For years people bemoaned the fact that Apple positioned the company logo on PowerBooks so that it was right side up when opening the ‘Book but upside down when the machine is open and running. Logic dictates that a company would want its logo oriented properly when the machine is in use, right?

Well, yes and no.

I have to admit that the first few times I opened my new iBook Dual USB I tried to open it from the backplane because of the orientation of the logo. This is exactly the reason, incidentally, that Apple put the logo “upside down” on PowerBooks in the first place: focus groups had difficulty opening PowerBooks because they were trying to open them from the wrong end.

The new iBook Dual USB corrects the logo orientation, but that doesn’t mean you have to keep it that way. This extreme PowerBooker from Japan re-oriented the Apple logo on his new iBook to be upside down. No, really. Scroll down the entry dated 6/27 for all the details. He also did a great job switching the logo back to six-color version.
