IBM Releases Fruit of Deep Blue Project

IBM has found itself in many new computing environments over the past few years. It has expanded beyond its traditional mainframe market into the web market and now the deep computing environment. Inspired by Deep Blue, the super computer which defeated chess master Gary Kasparov, IBM has foundedThe Deep Computing Institute to advance commercial use of advance parallel processing.

The first fruit of the this project is the publicly available source code for IBM Visualization Data Explorer, a powerful software package used to analyze and create visual representations of data. By releasing this product to the open source community, IBM hopes to reap the benefits of the movement to better produce complex software.

Presently, the software only runs on UNIX, Linux, and NT clients.
