IBM's Mini-Me

IBM is today announcing the ThinkPad 240, a Windows 98 mini-notebook that will compete with compact notebooks from Toshiba and Sony. Contrary to Sony’s attack on the consumer market, the IBM notebook targets corporate users. Unlike IBM’s previous ThinkPad 570, the new ThinkPad competes with the Sony notebook on price as well as weight. The new ThinkPad is priced at about US$2,000 and IBM will provide a set of enterprise tools that allow a notebook to be used in a networked environment.
