Apple posted an iBook-related Tech Info Library note about running the iBook in 640×480 mode: “iBook: Why Display is Not as Sharp in 640 x 480 Mode.”
The issue is essentially the same as the one with video display scaling on the Wall Street II, where everything looks fuzzy because of interpolation at 640×480 and 800×600.
