Without question or delay, the coolest of felines over at iFixit tore the new iPad Pro down and posted the results.
And there’s some pretty cool stuff in there.
The teardown process found the following components within the unit:
– A 38.8 watt-hour battery split into two cells.
– Four self-balancing speakers with accompanying enclosures.
– Two Broadcom BCM15900B0 units
– An NXP Semiconductors 8416A1 controller for Touch ID
– Parade Technologies’ DP695 display timing controller
– A Texas Instruments TPS65144 thought to be used for LCD biasing.
– 8 megapixel rear-facing camera.
– 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera.
Interestingly, the Pro’s four speaker chambers are filled with foam, a feature not shown in Apple’s renders. Positioned next to four drivers, these carbon fiber-capped acoustic cavities are specifically designed to resonate sound waves for full, rich sound.
The new logic board features a screwed-on EMI shield while the logic board hosts the following components:
– An A9X processor.
– 4GB of Hynix RAM.
– 32GB of NAND flash storage from Toshiba.
– An InvenSense MP67B six-axis gyroscope and accelerometer.
– An NXP 65V10 NFC Controller.
– NXP Semiconductors’ LPC11U37 ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller
– A Cirrus Logic 338S1213 audio codec.
Following the teardown, iFixit, gave the iPad Pro a repairability score of 3 out of 10, citing “gobs” of glue, a fused display and other difficult to service components.

I picked one up yesterday and love it. Using it in landscape mode is fantastic along with the 2 app multitasking. I can’t comment on the keyboard or pencil since they don’t seem to be available yet.
