According to the Wall Street Journal (reg. req’d), RealNetworks has announced plans to begin selling software that will let wireless carriers deliver audio and video to mobile devices. Their software is called RealSystems Mobile and is inteded for wireless networks based on 2.5G and 3G networks. So the AES alliance above is not the only one going this route. Things will continue to be interesting for some time.
