iPhoto, iMovie Upgrades Available Free January 25

As a number of astute readers have pointed out, you won’t have to plunk down US$49 to upgrade to iMovie 3 and iPhoto 2, as had been rumored. The only reason to buy Apple’s new iLife appears to be if you’re a SuperDrive owner who wants the new version of iDVD. Apple has thoughtfully included the upgrades to iTunes, iMovie, and iPhoto on that disc so that you won’t have to download them. If you lack a SuperDrive or don’t need iDVD 3, you’ll be treated to free downloads of the other programs January 25, which will hereby be known as National iLife Day, the first holiday of the Year of the PowerBook.
