iSync Available — in Beta

Apple has released synchronization software iSync in September, as promised — but it never promised it would be a full release version, right? Apple is calling this release a public beta, which expires in Feb. 2003, suggesting more work may be needed — we’ll report back on how it performs.

iSync synchronizes data in both directions from the Mac OS X Address Book, iCal calendar, and Palm Desktop software with iPod, compatible Bluetooth-powered phones (Apple only says it supports the Sony Ericsson T68, T68i, T39 and R520), and PalmOS devices (but you need HotSync software on your hard drive), as well as synchronizing multiple Macs running OS X 10.2.1 or later for paid .Mac subscribers. (.Mac subscriptions are not required for sync with Palms, phones, and iPods.)

[Update 11/08/2002] Amazon.com is selling the Sony Ericsson T68i color, Bluetooth mobile phone for only US$50 for a limited time.
