Kyocera Corporation introduces the VP-210 VisualPhone, the first ever mobile videophone. This portable unit combines a CMOS image sensor with approximately 110,000 pixels and a 2.0-inch reflective TFT color LCD. PHS lines provide color image transmission.
Along with the audio signal, the VP-210 VisualPhone transmits and receives images in real time at a rate of approximately two frames per second, making it the world’s first color videophone. In addition, users can send and receive e-mail with image attachments by using the P-Mail DX (deluxe) service offered by the DDI Pocket Telephone Group and it also makes it easy to record images on the fly, opening up still further possibilities for visual communication fun.
The mobile videophone should be available on the market at the end of July. For more information, check out the press release.
