Mac OS 10.1: Wireless Drivers for 3rd Party Cards Break AppleTalk [Updated]

I have a PowerBook G3 (Wallstreet) with a Wavelan Silver card. I downloaded the drivers mentioned in your previous article. My 10.1 experience is that TCP/IP connections through my Airport Base Station work fine, but AppleTalk connections do not work.

For example, I cannot print to an Apple LaserWriter 4/600, which is connected to the network via an AsanteTalk device. If I use the built-in wired Ethernet port, I can print. Similarly, I can mount Appleshare disks via TCP/IP, but cannot mount them if I uncheck “Allow connections via TCP/IP”. Wireless AppleTalk worked fine in Mac OS 9.2.

Update from reader Rob McKeever:
I saw the post from Rick Brown about the problems that he has been having with AppleTalk. This is a known issue and is being worked on. Deadlines and luck in my favour, it’s likely to be out in a week or two. Thought you’d want to know…
