For the first time we are reprinting O’Grady’s latest article for MacPower magazine in Japan (“A Closer Look at the PowerBook G4 – Mercury“). The magazine is available on newsstands in Japan, but not anywhere on the Internet that we are aware of.
The current PowerBook G3 design was launched in May 1998 which means that Apple has not updated the industrial design professional PowerBook in about 2.5 years. In fact, the last professional PB (Pismo) design was announced about 9 months ago at Macworld Expo Japan in February 2000. With the exception of faster clock speeds, USB and FireWire, there hasn?t been much innovation in the professional PowerBook line in quite a long time.
