MARGI Display-to-Go and the TiBook

Since it was introduced, people have been hunting for a way to connect Apple’s beautiful 22-inch Apple Cinema Display to the PowerBook G4 Titanium. The MARGI Display-to-Go 4 MB PC card seemed like the obvious choice, but it has never worked properly with the TiBook making the PowerBook and iBook family a virtual island from the Cinema Display and other digital LCDs. MARGI has announced that the combination of their new driver and Mac OS 9.2.1 will allow you to connect the Cinema Display to the TiBook.

Dear Apple Titanium Users,

As you may be aware, inserting the MARGI Display-to-Go 4MB card into an Apple Titanium and then opening any application, including monitor controls, may cause the system to stop. This problem only appears on Titanium systems. Previous PowerBook models function correctly when using Mac OS 9.1.

At this time, we are happy to tell you that installation of Mac OS 9.2.1 corrects this problem. There is still an issue with the sleep-mode, but a download of our latest Apple driver, Version 1.05, remedies this issue by disabling the sleep feature (only when the card is operational).

We?re very relieved to be able to report this update to our current and future Mac customers. It is unfortunate that the solution to this problem took so long to reach. We hope to continue to work closely with Apple to be able to provide solutions for your computing needs.

I must at this time mention a hardware issue that cannot be solved with an OS upgrade. When some Display-to-Go 4MB cards are used with Apple displays with ADC connectors, there is a monitor flicker or the monitor remains black. If your card exhibits this behavior within the 1-year warranty period, please contact MARGI tech support to get information on how to return your current card and receive a replacement. If you have yet to order a Display-to-Go 4MB card, please use the comment field on your order form to tell us you?ll be using the card with an ADC display, so we may send you a card that has been modified to work properly with these displays.

Margi Systems apologizes for any inconvenience these issues may have caused. If you have any questions, please contact our tech support department at support@margi.com
