Mega-pixel Monster

Digital photography buffs fell in love with the Fuji MX-700 when it was introduced nearly two years ago. The design and simplicity of that camera helped make Fujifilm a real force in the digital arena. Several different incarnations of the MX-700 form-factor have appeared but, until now, none have really broken new ground. Well, the wait is over.

FinePix 4700 ZOOM

This April, Fuji will begin shipping the FinePix 4700 ZOOM. Gone is the traditional charge coupled device (CCD) technology. Enter Fuji’s new Super CCD image sensor technology, a 0.59-inch image sensor that generates a whopping 4.3 million-pixel picture file at a resolution of 2400 x 1800!

The FinePix 4700 boasts new electronics that save power and allow boot-up and image-cycle speeds of less than two seconds. It includes a 16MB SmartMedia? card, and sports a built-in USB port. The camera relies on two AA alkaline batteries, a nice feature for those who hate lugging around battery chargers! The 4700 can also play back up to 80 seconds of AVI video with sound.

The FinePix 4700 ZOOM will ship in April with an MSRP of US$999. Save those pennies!
