On Tuesday, Microsoft released a version 11.3.5 update of its Office 2004 suite for Mac. The update, a 58.5 megabyte download, repairs security-related vulnerabilities that can cause file contents to be overwritten by malicious code.
According to Macworld News, the update also corrects a bug that can increase the use of system resources when files or objects are dragged to an Office application windows. Other fixes include a patch for Excel which would prompt the program to suddenly open workbooks or other files, a patch to reduce PowerPoint’s number of unexpected quits and an update which improved responsiveness in Microsoft Entourage.
The update can be downloaded via Microsoft’s web site or through the Microsoft AutoUpdate program. Office 2004 for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later to run and retails between US$149.00 and US$499.00 depending on version purchased.
If you’ve tried the new version and have comments about it, let us know.
