Mock-Up: A New Look for the MacBook Pro
01 September 2008 07:57 EST
Chris Barylick
It's just a mock-up, but it could be an amazing design.
Over on Flickr, designer Miguel Suarez assembled a picture of a MacBook Pro with MacBook Air features set in a black tone and the results are impressive:
Granted, this is just a mock-up, but with the next generation of MacBook Pro notebooks en route, this might be a cool angle to take on it.

Apple iPhone Concepts From all Over the Web
03 October 2006 10:50 EST
Jason D. O'Grady
A blog is attempting to assemble all of the iPhone prototypes and concepts floating around on the Web. My current fave is "iPhone 034" by WIll Reiher (pictured).
Wired has also posted a pretty impressive gallery of iMockups as well, including my favorite "true video" ipod.
What's your favorite?

Where is my Tablet Mac?
03 October 2006 10:33 EST
Jason D. O'Grady
That's according to rabid Apple fansites spanning the interweb. They all seem to think we'll get our hands on an ultra-portable from the Mac makers of Cupertino at some point next year.
According to popular conjecture, the fat free portable will use flash memory to start up in a jiffy, and run a cut down version of Apple's OS X.
We can see the appeal of a pint-sized Mac portable, possibly in tablet form. Its latest laptopsare a little on the large side, and Apple's decision to discontinue the 12-inch PowerBook left swathes of notebook fans in mourning.
Still, we have to wonder whether Apple would be quick to jump into the UMPC pool. With relatively few exceptions, current ultra-portables leave a lot to be desired.

Pedro mg has posted this cool shot of what the iMac lineup would look like if Apple released the new 24-inch iMac in Black. "Would you pay another $500 for 1GB extra RAM, 128MB extra Video, black paint, and Leopard upgrade, all in the package ?"

How sweet would it be to have something like that standing around in your office. I would never touch it, excpet turning it on and off ... over and over again. (Thanks Juergen)

Latest iPhone Mock: iChat Mobile
03 August 2006 12:06 EST
Jason D. O'Grady
Everyone's pretty worked up over a photo of the alleged iPhone that's cropped up at Engadget. According to legend the mythical phone could feature VOIP and true iTMS integration in a package the size of an iPod nano.
The slogan (which I cropped) "iChat Mobile, Everything you expect from a Mac, from a phone" sounds Apple-ly enough. My problem is that the slogan sets the bar a little high for a first generation product and is out of character for a company that usually under-promises and over-delivers.
I think that it's a Photoshop job. Look at the rubbish button setup and whack keyboard - it's a nightmare. If this is the best that Ive and company can come up with for the holy grail of mobile phones I'll be disappointed. I'd take one of the delicious mockups over the "iChat Mobile" any day.
