When the iPod came out, I thought it would be a good way to store and power a digital camera. Clip the iPod to your belt, then use a very light camera body connected by firewire. I guess it needs a bigger drive, but we all know how fast drive capacity expands.

I just realized today that the iPod could be Mr. Jobs’ "digital hub". Several sites have mentioned that the earphone port has extra inputs for controls. I suspect these could also be used as controls for add-ons.

Seems to me the iPod has the making of the central point for a digital world – power, control, short and long term storage. It also looks like it would fit nicely into a docking port on any number of devices.

Here’s what I hope will begin to be unveiled Monday.

  1. A digital camera (I think ATI announced some fancy new chip today) that would be powered by the iPod cartridge.
  2. A PDA/picture viewer that could be a picture frame when on your desk, and a mini computer while traveling. Again powered by the iPod cartridge.
  3. An 8 1/2 X 11 tablet which would be even more useful than the PDA. Just take your data on your iPod from your Mac.
  4. While they’re at it, why not a professional grade video camera? Very lightweight and easy to move data to their TiBook to edit?
  5. Of course all new Macs will need to have an iPod dock of some sort.

I got so worked up when I thought of all the possibilities I just had to e-mail someone that likes Macs. Keep up the good work.
