NAMM: Emagic Releases Logic 5, Add-ons

German developer Emagic is practically a music technology expo in itself. As promised, Emagic has readied its flagship digital audio workstation / sequencer Logic 5 in time for the Winter NAMM music show in Miami, with plenty of add-ons to boot.

The upgrade features a new automation system, over 50 plug-ins, plug-in side-chaining, integrated synthesizers, more audio instruments, new scrubbing functionality, high-end dithering, wider support for 24-bit/96kHz, score editor improvements, REX support for Propellerheads’ ReCycle grooves, new hardware control, and easier copy protection. Fully loaded Platinum MSRP US$949, upgrades US$149.00, available by the end of the month. Also by the end of the month, Emagic will ship its Logic Control hardware remote control and Control XT expansion module (US$ MRSP $1299 and $1099, respectively). Its ES2 synthesizer, a modern synthesizer with analog roots will be available in February, along with EVOC20 vocoder and formant filter bank. Logic 5 should also support OS X; I’ll have more details on that and hopefully a review soon.
