NAMM: Wireless MIDI, USB Audio/MIDI from Midiman

At Go2Mac, we’ve long been big advocates of going wireless. Now we’ll be able to do it with music making. Midiman is showing off its new MidAir wireless MIDI system, which uses a 2.4 GHz DSS scheme with error corrections and internal AAA battery-power for wireless MIDI interfacing at distances of up to 50+ feet.

Among other announcements, Midiman/M-Audio also has two new USB interfaces, each compatible with Mac OS 9 and OS X. The USB Audio Duo functions as both a standalone mic preamp – A/D converter and USB audio interface. As a USB interface, the Duo offers 2 mic/line inputs with switchable line level, and S/PDIF digital coax I/O. Many readers have been asking for a basic portable audio interface; on paper I haven’t seen a better option. Stay tuned. Midiman also introduced the MIDISport Uno, 1×1 MIDI interface, which joins Midiman’s complete line of OS 9/X-compatible interfaces. Midiman remains one of the only companies offering OS X compatible audio and MIDI interfaces.
