New Airport Security Procedures for Laptops

Issue 36 of the Sports Shooter newsletter contains a very disturbing column by a photographer describing how his laptop was damaged while going through airport security recently.

After banging up his PowerBook, to the point it would no longer boot up, he was then prevented from boarding his flight because he couldn’t show the screen light up to gate agents! And they are the ones who damaged the PowerBook.

New security rules dictate that all computers must go through the x-ray machines sans case … so your naked laptop goes shooting out the other side and hits those rollers and could bang into other baggage or the back wall of the conveyor system. Be careful and only bring your PB if you really need it.
