I just received my new PowerBook 17-inch over the weekend and installed all my software (what a great machine!). When I got into work on Monday I booted up Virtual PC to link to our Exchange Server but got an error about Ethernet emulation. I reinstalled VPC but still no luck.

After a call to Connectix tech support I was told that there is a known problem with the Airport Extreme cards and VPC Ethernet emulation. The only solution is to take the card out of the ‘book. Not really a fix as I use the card and not a simple undertaking with the PB17.
When I went to the Connectix user forums I discovered that the issue has been known for at least a month and they are still “investigating” a fix. Leaves you to wonder if this is just the beginning of the end for this useful product now that Microsoft is the owner.
