Nokia 770 Internet TabletOn Wednesday Nokia announced that they have created a new communication device, but it?s not a cell phone. It?s a portable, web-surfing device that looks more like a landscape based PDA. They call it the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet.
The new PDA, er, I mean Internet Tablet, will sport a 4? high-resolution (800×480) touch screen with 65k colors, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 1.2 and USB, of course. It will also come with 64MB of DDR RAM, 128MB of Flash Memory (64MB usable) and a 64MB Reduced Size MMC memory card. Nokia is marketing the 770 as an Internet appliance designed to let users surf the web without a PC.
If this device sounds like something you?ve heard about before then you?d be correct. Sony, Intel, and other big names tried marketing such devices way back in the late 1990s with no luck. Maybe Nokia knows something that we don?t but for $350, some people may think it?s worth it.
Nokia says availability is planned for the third quarter of 2005. Just in time for the holidays.
