Office v.X, Meet FileMaker

A $100 rebate from FileMaker is promoting new FileMaker integration and compatibility with Office v. X for OS X.

A $100 rebate from FileMaker is promoting new FileMaker integration and compatibility with Office v. X for OS X.

Those who have purchased retail boxes of FileMaker Pro 5.5 for Mac OS X (full version) from November 1, 2001 through March 15, 2002, are eligible to receive a $100 U.S. ($150 CDN for Canadian customers) mail-in rebate from FileMaker with proof of purchase of Office v. X (full version or upgrade).

A downloadable rebate form and further details are available at www.filemaker.com/promos.

Aside from the rebate, Office is now more FileMaker-friendly than ever, thanks to the Microsoft Business Unit’s latest efforts. According to FileMaker, Inc., you can import data from Excel X for Mac into FileMaker Pro, for creating reports or for sharing over the Web in just minutes by simply dragging and dropping an Excel X spreadsheet onto FileMaker Pro; use the Excel X File Menu or Get External Data command on Data Menu; drag a FileMaker Pro file from the Finder to Excel X; or simply use the Excel X Import Wizard to select the FileMaker Pro database records to import. Data can also be easily exchanged between FileMaker Pro 5.5 and, Word X and Entourage X for Mac, to create mailings or to send emails.

“FileMaker Pro 5.5 for Mac OS X is a must-have database, especially for business users who need to leverage data between FileMaker Pro and Office v. X for Mac,” said Kevin Browne, general manager, Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft Corp.

More info on Microsoft product support in FileMaker is available on FileMaker’s website.

And, of course, FileMaker is the tool that powers Go2Mac’s website.
