OS X 10.1 arrives Saturday, Word test-drive available

From Job’s keynote at Seybold, the words we’ve been waiting to hear: Mac OS X version 10.1, which delivers enhanced performance, a refined Aqua user interface and support for digital media and devices including DVDs, MP3 CDs, MP3 players, printers, digital cameras and DV camcorders, goes on sale Saturday, Sep 29, for a suggested retail price of $129 (US).

10.1 won’t be here until Saturday, but Microsoft already has a free “test drive” version of Word for X available for download immediately. You’ll need 10.1 to use it. Microsoft announced this week that Office X will be available in November. Apple has put together an especially beautiful Office X page with info and pricing.
