Six Dollars to a Clean PowerBook Screen

Yesterday I wandered into my local office depot to look at desks. While I was there I decided to see if they carried a laptop safe screen cleaner. To my surprise they did. For about US$6 they have a kit, which contains swabs, five cleaning cloths and five polishing cloths. Why is this news worthy? Have you ever called a Mac retailer to ask for screen cleaner? Most don?t carry it, and when I went to Comp USA no luck there either.
When I looked online I found out that the only manufacturer that Apple recommends Klear Screen and they want US$5.95 (plus shipping and handling) for one cleaning packet and one polishing packet, the “power kit” will set you back US $29.95. US$6 is a bit of a rip off for a one time use product. Retailers must know it because no one carries them.
As far as I can tell the Office Depot brand is made by Klear Screen, and it works beautifully. If you have taken any type of paper towel to your laptop screen you know how damaging it can be.
What do you use to clean your PowerBook’s screen? (And no, the “thumb zamboni” technique does not count…)

Prompted by a brief mention on this site, I went to Firebox.com to see what all the fuss was about the Digitaldream L’espion camera. Okay, this thing is small. REALLY small…2.25″x1.5″x~.5″. Runs for ~1000 pictures on a single AAA according to the docs. It comes with a battery, a USB cable, a pleather belt pouch, and driver software. firebox even threw in some gummy candy! This camera is so small, there’s no reason for me to ever leave the house without it. Click ‘read more’ for the full review.
