If you have ever wondered at the difficulties and grief that seem to be created as a matter of fact by the ever changing standards landscape of the computer industry, maybe the following story can give hope that newer doesn’t mean automatically trashing your perfectly good, but slightly out-of-date hardware. It’s rumor-quashing time again: Apple’s Greg Joswiak, Senior Director of Hardware Product Marketing, tells MacCentral that Apple is “set for some months now” on its hardware line, having updated PowerBook, iBook, Power Mac (dual 1GHz), and, of course, iMac in the last two months.

The US$17.99 Personality Pack by Parallel Design has been updated for the Palm m505 and IBM c505. It consists of a flip-up cover that clips to the top of the Palm. The clip-on cover clicks into the utility slot at the back. It has no spring and works by friction. Covers come in either black or translucent colors. The translucent covers let you see your Palm screen without having to flip up the cover, convenient for checking to see if it’s switched on.
