Go2Mac readers know that we have been speculating that Apple is preparing to announce a new PowerBook that will fall directly between the just-announced iBook Dual USB and the professional PowerBook G4 Titanium. Never has one story elicited so many comments and reader feedback!

The new ‘Book, which we have affectionately dubbed Son of Pismo, will be just that: a Pismo logic board with Pismo features (14.1-inch TFT, G3 processor, Pismo ports, etc.) but packed into a new enclosure that is more in line with Apple’s 2001 PowerBook makeover.

Flat-Panel Monitors and iMacs

Since the information surfaced about Apple’s imminent announcement of a flat-panel iMac to replace the original all-in-one design, speculation has been swirling about the price point. Specifically about how Apple will make it affordable for the average consumer to afford an entry-level machine equipped with a notoriously expensive flat-panel display.

TiBook Rev. B Schedule

The updated TiBook (code-named Onyx) was originally slated to be released in September, then rumors suggested that it could be announced as soon as Macworld Expo NY 2001 next month. The real date is probably somewhere in between.
