Palm i705 Sales Brisk, Enterprise Apps Announced

Palm i705 According to a CNet article (“Palm casts corporate bait“) the wireless Palm i705 has exceeded initial sales expectations with more than 13,000 units sold last week, 4,000 via its Web site. Even more assuring is the company’s commitment to the enterprise market. At its PalmSource Expo 2002 this week the company demonstrated secure access to an SQL database (slated for Spring) and to a corporate MS Exchange email server (summer).

On tap for next year: a hybrid phone/Palm running on the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and GPRS (Global Packet Radio Service) networks and a handheld with built-in support for Wi-Fi, or 802.11 wireless networks.
